Despite this improvement, there are likely still plenty of pro athletes all over the world who are afraid to truly be themselves. In fact, as society is now much more open to people no matter their orientation, we have seen a ton more athletes, both active and retired, come out and admit that they are homosexuals, and it's absolutely a great thing. Players would be completely living a lie, without anyone suspecting a thing for the most part. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been like that forever, especially not in sports.įor a long time, those in sports were hiding who they really were to avoid scrutiny from the public, fans and their league. In the modern day, it is completely acceptable and encouraged for individuals to be who they really are and receive support from those around them. Or, and not to quote Seinfeld, that there would be anything wrong with that. The purpose of this list is to go a bit more in depth about some of the rumors that are surrounding these players, not to convince the reader that these athletes are gay.
